Paid Policy Internship for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) College Students
About Capitol Pathways
Capitol Pathways is a paid spring internship program for BIPOC undergraduate college students. With the long-term goal of making Minnesota state government more representative of our diverse communities, our program provides leadership, legislative and career readiness training alongside an immersive hands-on internship experience with organizations doing policy work during the legislative session. This internship runs from January – May 2024.
Programming
We will continue hybrid programming for the 2024 year. Details about in-person and virtual programming will be provided by program staff as they come.
Internship Details
In the program, students will:
- Be placed with an internship host site engaged in policy or advocacy work at or around the Capitol for the 2024 legislative session.
- Intern at their host site for a minimum of 10 hours per week and receive a stipend of $3,000 or more throughout the internship period.
- Attend a total of 4 monthly cohort meetings with their cohort peers in the program for leadership and professional development throughout the internship period.

- October 2: Application opens

- October 31: Application closes
Student Application
- November 1: Application opens
- November 10: Student info session I
- November 16: Student info session II
- November 27: Applications closes
Notifications & Interviews
- December 1: Applicants notified of application status
- December 4 – 19: Interviews
- December 22: Host and student notified of final placements.
